ACADEMIC STANDING
The pass mark in each
subject is 60%
but students are required to maintain a
semester and
overall average of at least 65%
in class and field work. Pass mark for Dendrology field
is 75% and the Navigation field is 65%*.
Any student who does not
maintain a satisfactory standing in both classroom and
field work during any semester will be required to
repeat the work of that period before advancing to the
succeeding semester.
Students who fail subjects
during any semester, may attempt to remove failures from
their record by writing supplemental examinations in
failed courses upon arrangement with the instructor
concerned. The fee to write a supplemental exam is
$100.00.
Note: *However, students
must pass the
field portion of DENDROLOGY, and the MAP & COMPASS
portion of Forest Navigation or they will be required to
withdraw from the program.
Students must submit a faculty-acceptable
Resource Management Plan in
Forest
Management II before being allowed to graduate.
Averages may be computed
on the basis of grade points (percentages shown in
brackets) for each subject on the following basis:
| A |
4
grade points
(90 – 100%) |
| B |
3 grade points (80 –
89%) |
| C |
2 grade points (70 –
79%) |
| D |
1
grade point (60 – 69%) |
| F |
Failure ( <
59%) |
A 1.5
grade point average is considered to be the equivalent
to 65% or the minimum passing average.
Each subject is weighted by its indicated credit
when averages are computed.
Final
examinations are held at the end of each semester.
Mid-semester examinations are held at the
mid-point of each semester, in order that both staff and
students may appraise progress to date.
Additional short tests, recitation periods, etc.,
are given throughout the semester at the discretion of
the instructor concerned.
All
subjects are compulsory and regular attendance at all
classes and field periods is required.
Any absence due to sickness or other unavoidable
causes must be made up in a manner satisfactory to the
instructor in charge of the course in which the absence
occurred. Continuous
absence from classes without a reasonable excuse will
not be tolerated; neither will tardiness in reporting to
classes. |
