CONTINUING EDUCATION
One exposure to education is never enough.
Technologies and philosophies change. Careers expand
into new fields and specialties. Professional
accreditation for Certified Forest Technologists and
Registered Professional Foresters requires Continuing
Forestry Education credits. The Continuing Education
Department of the Maritime College of Forest Technology
offers over fifty short courses each year to assist
forestry and forest products professionals to gain new
knowledge and skills.
Courses generally are two days to
one week in length and are taught by experts from around
the globe. Continuing Education courses are divided
between those aimed at Forestry Professionals and
training programs for people involved in lumber
manufacturing and value added operations. Forestry
topics include Global Information Systems (GIS),
Hardwood Management, Supervisory Development, and
Watercourse Alteration Certification. Wood Processing
courses include Band and Circular Saw Maintenance,
Moulder Setup and Maintenance, and Hardwood Lumber
Manufacturing. Please click on the course schedules

Accommodation is available for
people attending Continuing Education courses at
Torunski Hall. Rooms are clean and spacious with private
bathrooms and easy breezeway connection to Blenis Hall,
Continuing Education classrooms and the Cafeteria.
Forestry Courses for the Public
The
Continuing Education Department also offers courses
suitable for the non-professional who is interested in
learning more about the forest. Topics include Woodlot
Wildlife, Basic GPS, Forest Birds and Chainsaw Safety.
Courses suitable for non-professionals are marked with
an asterisk on the Continuing Education in Forestry
Course Schedule. You can also call to inquire when
special courses are planned.
