The Maritime College of Forest Technology campus
The Maritime College of Forest Technology campus is located on the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre (HJFFC) grounds. The former Maritime Forest Ranger School stood alone at this location prior to the construction of the HJFFC in 1986. Within the sprawling 28 hectare grounds, you can find two large fields for outdoor activities, two small ponds for pond hockey and skating, an arboretum with a wide variety of tree and shrub species, and an outdoor classroom. The HJFFC building is also home to the Atlantic Division of the Canadian Forest Service and its tree nursery, the New Brunswick Energy and Resource Development Headquarters, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Tweeddale Centre for Industrial Forest Research, and more.
The HJFFC grounds sit adjacent to the 1500 hectare UNB woodlot, which allows students quick access to a multitude of different roadways, water bodies, and forested areas during lab activities. The UNB woodlot also has a number of recreational trails for mountain biking and cross-country skiing.
